COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced $89,021.74 in human trafficking grants from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Office of Criminal Justice Services. A total of $2M was granted throughout the state, awarding 33 nonprofits in 16 different counties. These nonprofits serve the needs of human trafficking survivors. Funded services include victim advocacy, mental health services, education and employment support, and shelter/housing, and more. COMPASS Family and Community Services was one of the 33 recipients in this round of funding.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) Thursday introduced a new piece of legislation that draws clear distinctions between full time employees and independent contractors. This legislation aims to address improper categorization of employees, which can be done by employers to not give employees the benefits and protections that they deserve. Together, these bills are trying to end bad practices that are prevalent in pet stores across Ohio, specifically prohibiting loans to purchase and restoring local governmental authority to regulate the sale of dogs.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced $674,978 in Career Pathway Support Grants for Youngstown State University (YSU). This is a part of the Department of Education and Workforce’s campaign to support career-connected learning opportunities and career planning support to more students across Ohio. These grants are used to support career technical education by creating the Career Pathway Support Networks. These regional networks will bring together schools, employers, and community leaders to align education with workforce needs and expand opportunities for students.
