COLUMBUS – House Democrats today announce the election of Rep. Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) as the new minority whip now that Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) has stepped down from the role.

“I have loved my time as minority whip. It is a responsibility that I take so much pride in, and I wanted to support someone who was up to the challenge of this position,” said Rep. Miranda. “I want to congratulate my colleague and fellow Hamilton County resident, Rep. Isaacsohn for being voted the new minority whip! He has been an excellent addition to our caucus this general assembly, and I know he has a bright future here.”

Rep. Isaacsohn is currently serving his first term as a state representative. He represents the 24th House District, which encompasses part of Hamilton County.

“It is an honor to join the leadership team for the House Democratic Caucus. We are going to be relentless in our pursuit of a better future for the people of Ohio, and I believe that with the work and dedication of this caucus, we are going to get there,” said Rep. Isaacsohn

A former community and political organizer for multiple campaigns across the country, Rep. Isaacsohn earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University, a Master’s from Cambridge University, and a J.D. from Yale Law School. He is committed to fighting for better childcare for parents, more investments in both mental health services and extracurricular activities for young people and making sure that seniors have what they need to age with dignity.

House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) thanked Rep. Miranda for her years of dedicated service to the people of Ohio as minority whip and welcomed Rep. Isaacsohn to the Ohio House Minority Caucus leadership team.

Rep. Miranda has been a vital member of this caucus since she started her tenure here at the Ohio House of Representatives. We are sad to see her step down as minority whip, a job she was extremely successful at and dedicated to, but are excited for her future endeavors,” said Leader Russo. “Rep. Isaacsohn is an excellent addition to this leadership team, as he strives to build a better future for his constituents. I look forward to his leadership and continued commitment to putting Ohio’s people first.”

The mission of The Ohio House Democratic Caucus is to develop and pass policies that improve the lives of Ohioans – putting people first. All Ohioans, regardless of background, have the right to thrive in their communities.

Rep. Isaacsohn will be sworn in as minority whip at the next House session.
