State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) took the oath of office today during the opening session of the 133rd Ohio General Assembly at the Ohio Statehouse, officially beginning his first term as state lawmaker.

“The opportunity to represent my community in the Ohio General Assembly is an incredible honor,” said Miller. “I am grateful to my friends and family for joining me today, and to the entirety of District 56 for entrusting me with this responsibility.”

Miller is a former social studies teacher at Firelands High School and an adjunct instructor with Lorain County Community College. Joe has also been serving his community as Councilman at Large for the past six years.

“Ohioans deserve a legislature that is singularly focused on addressing the challenges facing our state,” said Miller. “In order to deliver results for our constituents, we must bring a balanced array of voices to the table and encourage thoughtful, constructive debate.”

Through quality education, investing in renewable energy and innovative technology, Miller believes Ohio could be leading the nation in job creation and sustainability.

He and his wife Kelly have been married for 14 years and reside in Amherst with their two sons, Joseph and Jordan.
