State Representative Cross Announces TechCred Program Bill Signed by Governor Mike DeWine at Grob Systems Inc.
House Bill 2, otherwise known as the TechCred Program, was signed by Governor Mike DeWine Monday morning at Grob Systems Inc. The signing enacts the important workforce development legislation that provides guidance for TechCred grants and Industry Sector Partnerships as well as creates the Individual Microcredential Assistance Program. State Rep. Jon Cross (R-Kenton) sponsored the legislation.
“The TechCred Program is an important initiative that will continue to attract jobs to Ohio and provide for further investments to advance our workforce,” said Cross. “I appreciate Governor DeWine for signing this legislation and Speaker Householder for advancing this bill.”
In the 133rd Ohio General Assembly, Speaker Householder made the TechCred Program a priority piece of legislation.
“Expanding our workforce and empowering our businesses has been a top priority of mine as we passed the TechCred bill last year,” said Householder. “The bill was met with bipartisan support, and I’m proud to see it signed today.”
Ohio’s TechCred Program is currently helping Ohioans learn new skills and helping employers build a stronger workforce with the skills needed in a technology-infused economy. These technology-focused credentials take a year or less to complete and prepare current and future employees for the technology jobs Ohio employers need.
The TechCred Program provides funding to businesses across the state in its first round of funding, including Grob Systems Inc. and Buckeye Machines of Hardin County - both are located within the 83rd district.
