Cross Announces IMAP Launch

July 15, 2020
Jon Cross News

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jon Cross (R-Kenton) today announced the official launch of the Individual Micro-credential Assistance Program (IMAP), an initiative that provides up to $2.5 million in grants to help Ohioans gain credentials in the technology industry. Cross sponsored House Bill 2, which created the IMAP and TechCred programs.

“As the primary sponsor of H.B. 2, I’m honored to announce the official launch of IMAP,” said Cross. “This program will provide valuable training opportunities to Ohioans, which will keep our state competitive and open for business.”

IMAP provides opportunities for Ohioans who are low income, partially unemployed, or completely unemployed to participate in a training program and receive a microcredential. Training providers who wish to be accepted into IMAP must first submit an IMAP application to the state. The application will provide the specific credentials, number of credentials, and the cost of the micro-credentials that will be offered.

The grant application is open to training providers, such as universities, colleges, Ohio technical centers, or private sector training businesses. Training providers that submit successful applications will be reimbursed up to $3,000 upon completion of each microcredential and up to $250,000 per application.

Training providers interested in applying can find more information at IMAP.development.ohio.gov. The deadline to apply is July 24, 2020.
