State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announces that House Bill 163, which creates the “Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad” license plate, passed out of the General Assembly. The legislation now heads to the governor.

“It’s important that we recognize the rich history and significance of trains in the Cuyahoga Valley. They have been vital to the regional commerce for decades,” said Roemer.

Roemer has previously recognized the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, which exhibits at least 15 percent growth in ridership annually.

Roemer also addressed this designation of the license plate in other legislation earlier this year as part of Ohio’s “historical roots” for future generations.

“I want those growing up now to understand the sacrifices made by other Ohioans in making our state the transportation nucleus of America.”

The legislation now awaits the governor’s signature.
